Recent political changes in both Iran and the United States give hope for improved bilateral relations in the next few years. In the meantime, the two countries have a number of issues to be resolved, including security issues in the Persian Gulf, the Middle East peace accords, and outstanding property and economic issues.

The Stanley Foundation hopes to develop programs that will lead to the search for common ground with Iran, while promoting mutual and equal dialogue, expanded contacts, and improved communications and information-sharing toward the goal of a normalized political and economic relationship.
